This stage can be unlocked by reading the climbers journal in the cave in 8-1 Way into Mt. Shivering.
At the beginning of the stage there are some mountain peaks across which the player can travel with the hookshot. A snowstorm will that slows movement will start once the player walks into the area, and a timer will start counting down warning of incoming damage. It should be easy to cross this area before the timer runs out if the player first uses the telescope to plan the route and avoids going to the right, since that's the wrong path.
After a battle and passing through a cave, the player will encounter another much larger area with mountain peaks. No telescope is available here, so one just has to travel quickly. The most optimal and short path is going to the left, up, up, right, up, right and lastly up.
The player will eventually reach the north side where there will be a cave entrance. After passing through the cave, there is another battle. The final cave afterwards contains a treasure chest and the Demon Altar. The player will also find the conclusion to the climber's story here.
