Mikke is a Bakeneko with the aspiration of becoming a swordsman
When Mikke visited a bounty office in the hopes of becoming a swordsman, the mercenaries there ridiculed her for her petite physique saying that she probably couldn't wield a sword. However, to avoid being exposed as yokai, Mikke ignored their mockery and took a simple delivery job as her first task. While she unexpectedly encountered a group of bandits on the job, she managed to defeat them all, sparking widespread attention and earning her the reputation as a remarkable kid.
Though Mikke always carries a sword called Chisui around her waist, since she never learned how to wield a sword, she usually relies on her physical abilities as a yokai to handle most situations. In demonstrating outstanding skills even without such a good sword, rumors circulated that she might be the heir to a significant swordsman or exorcist clan. However, witnessing her occasional use of the sword as if it were a mare club, people shook their heads in disbelief.
While carrying out requests, there were times when Mikke came across other youkai, some of which recognized her true nature and attempted to recruit her. However, she refused as she longed to stay amongst humans. When requested to exorcise a yokai, she would sometimes secretly let them go depending on their circumstances but was unforgiving to those who harmed humans.
Mercenaries were curious about Mikke's pursuit of becoming a swordsman, especially since she was not driven by wealth or the desire to improve her skills. To that, Mikke explained that she had made a promise to live freely in this world without being burdened by any constraints.
Mikke, who has become somewhat of a mascot to the bounty office due to her erratic yet adorable habits stemming from her feline days, often treats herself to a grilled sweetfish at her favorite shop whenever she completes a request and gets paid. Mikke does this because in her memories from when she was a cat, money is something that is used as an exchange for grilled sweetfish. Although the shop owner himself was initially baffled to see Mikke bring an extravagant amount of money to order some frilled sweetfish, he now says he grills the best fish for her every time.
