Each world in the Main Story has its own variant of Purple Coin. The Side Story stages have Purple Puzzle as the main variant. The amount of Purple Coins in each world is limited, and spread across the worlds' Normal and Nightmare modes.
Main story worlds have precisely adequate amount of Purple Coins of their respective types to purchase all the items in Kamazon, given the player has collected all of them across the world's Normal and Nightmare modes. The Hell mode does not have any collectible Purple Coin.
Side stories, however, refresh the stage collectibles when the events get a rerun. This might create variation in the amount of Purple Puzzles the player has obtained.
Purple Coins can be found in the main stages of each world and side story. They appear as floating objects with the size of one tile, and are collected as the player passses through them.
Most Purple Coins are collectible along the player's typical path throughout the stage. However, some Purple Coins may stay hidden in obscure locations of the stage, often together with other collectibles such as Star Pieces. Purple Coins may also be hidden under breakable rocks and other destructible or movable objects.
Once a Purple Coin is collected, it will no longer appear when revisiting the stage, unless the Story Replay feature is in use. Each stage has a specific number of Purple Coins that can be found and collected.
The player can check the status bar at the top right of the interface while playing through the stage in order to track the amount of Purple Coins and other collectibles to be collected. Furthermore, the total amount of Purple Coins obtainable in a world or story can be checked through the "Details" tab in the world view interface.

Exchange[]
Purple Coins can be exchanged in the Kamazon. Most of the items purchasable are useful, such as Coffee Grinders and Strengthening Hammers. Generally, evolution stones for the heroes gathered in the world is available for purchase through the corresponding world's purple currency.
Since the set of purchasable items includes purple currency from both the Normal and Nightmare modes, the players upon first playthrough of the world's Normal mode might not have enough coins to buy all the items in the corresponding caregory. However, collecting all the Purple coins across both modes should ensure that they are able to purchase all items.
Purple Coin variants are independent and cannot be used to purchase items from other Purple Coin categories.
