Curio

Curios show important information about Guardian Tales' past and current world.

These are objects found in Expedition after reaching a certain score. By the Merriam Webster dictionary, Curios are "something (such as a decorative object) considered novel, rare, or bizarre" which would fit Guardian Tales' curios description.

Curios are stored as stickers in the "Chosen One Notebook", on the Curio tab, on the top right corner of Expedition. The Notebook shows where they were obtained and how much score was needed. It also shows knowledge about each curio functionality, note or use.

Chosen One Area 1[]

1st District[]

Stone Gargoyle Head: Stone Gargoyle Head; A broken Gargoyle Head.; This is a fragment of the statue commemorating Dungeon Kingdom's great battle against the Archdemon with its Gargoyle army.; These stone statues are protectors representing the kingdom's peace.; After the smoke cleared from an unknown explosion, the survivors of Dungeon Kingdom were in shock. All the heads of the statues were cut and vanished without a trace.

Relief Box: Relief Box; Relief supplies from the Chosen One for the citizens of Dungeon Kingdom.; The blue jelly is especially popular.; The Chosen One was the first to arrive at the ruins of Dungeon Kingdom. They searched for survivors and handed out supplies.; The aid of the Chosen One was like a beam of light in the darkness for the survivors awaiting their deaths inside the ruins.; For those who are desperate, filling their stomachs and licking their wounds ring true rather than complicated sermons.; Salvation begins from what's close by.

2nd District[]

Gem Bug: Gem Bug; A blue glistening bug that emerges from all over Dungeon Kingdom.; It's the main ingredient for curing petrification, and known to be highly nutritious.; However, no one tries to eat it because of its appearance.; The Priests of the Chosen one are collecting these insects for some reason.

Swollen Guts: Swollen Guts; Guts harvested from the Abyssal demons.; The oddly swollen guts,; is filled with undigested blue jellies.

Letter from the Heart Acquired from hidden stage: Cliff's Edge: A letter found on the Chosen One Believer's body.
It's scribbled and barely legible.; A letter found on the dead body of a Chosen One believer.; It reads as follows.; Book of Prophecies part 3 chapter 3.; A third died from the rising flames. Another third were eaten by the Abyssal demons, and salvation came for the final third who acted on faith.; Thank you archpriestess. I completed my duty.; However, I am afraid.; Could the light of salvation be instilled within such a hideous body.

3rd District[]

Holy Enforcer: Holy Enforcer; A hammer with an engraving of the Chosen One insignia.; It's a blunt object, but has magical enchantments instilled within it. When it's swung, the target is cleanly cut as if a knife was used.

Abyss Fragment Acquired from hidden stage: Pilgrim's Passage: Unknown Stone Fragment
Looking at it gives you an uneasy feeling.; An Unknown Stone Fragment engraved with an unknown pattern.; At a first glance, it gives off an uneasy feeling because it looks like it has pieces of flesh attached to it.; The Chosen One Priests offer a great reward for this object, so many adventurers are avidly searching for it.; Tales of it being seen within the deep parts of the Dungeon.; But there's no one who actually received a reward from the Priests.

Missionary Beads: Missionary Beads; Beads given to official Chosen One Priests.; Every day after dinner, a prayer of gratitude is held at the aid stations.; The children who memorize the Chosen One's get a bead from the Priests.; These beads can be exchanged for the blue jelly at the aid station. So the priests are swarmed by children daily.

Abyssal Crown Acquired from Area 1: The Final Trial Area: Abyssal Crown; The head of Balock, the great demon found at the abyss' edge.; It's long been separated from the body, but it still burns as if it's still alive.; The flames coming from its eyes make it seem as if it's weeping. Even though a demon would never weep.; Before Balock's head fell to the ground, it gave a last deep breath.; It was as if a criminal on death row sighing in relief after being forgiven in the last moments.

4th District[]

Sharp Mandibles: Sharp Mandibles; The sharp mandibles of the creatures that emerged across Shen City and brought calamity.; This organism was first discovered through the nightmare at Shen City.; The creatures with mandibles sharp enough to cut through steel and boulders resemble spiders, but they're completely different organisms.; They are highly aggressive and attack any organism that gets too close. They're also observed to move in groups.; Based on the numerous wrinkles on the mandible, the youngest individuals are predicted to be at least 500 years old.

Spider Web Dress: Spider Web Dress; A glistening white dress made out of spider webs.; This elaborately made dress for another entity, made the many discoverers of this item curious.; The reason the creatures who murder anything that approaches and lacks intelligence made such a complex and beautiful dress is still an unsolved mystery to the survivors.

5th District[]

Book of Prophecies Copy: Book of Prophecies Copy; A copy of the Book of Prophecies found on the body of a Chosen One believer.; The following contents are printed.; Book of Prophecies part 4 chapter 3.; On the day the Calamity Egg hatches, true doom shall befall upon this land,; A savior will arrive on those who have faith.; There's a scribbled writing written on the back of the copy.; Archpriestess, thank you. I have done my part.; I saw the proper omen of doom after breaking through the forbidden curtain and bringing this here.; I will now rest my eyes happily since every shred of the prophecy is correct.

Sturdy Exoskeleton: Sturdy Exoskeleton; The Exoskeleton found at the gruesome scene.; No one expected the tragedy that befell after the giant egg emerged at the center of Shen City.; The organisms too huge and ferocious to be called spiders emerged and began murdering anyone who got too close to the egg. Later not a shadow came close to the egg.; This is a part of an exoskeleton dropped by the entity who took an arm of the attack's survivor.

Goddess Statue Acquired from hidden stage: Crawlers' Chapel: Forgotten Goddess' Statue
It's a strange appearance never seen anywhere.; An ornately made statue.; A mysterious voice can be heard from the statue at times.; Listening to it makes one fall into a deep sleep.; My child, wait and dream.; The tree has not yet grown.; That day has not arrived.; The day the stars find the right place.; The day black waves engulf the world.; The tree of gods will grow again.; My child, wait and dream.

Pioneer of Nations: Pioneer of Nations; A scepter engraved with the Chosen One emblem.; The jewel at the end of the scepter is discolored and cracked as if it used up all its power.; It's a scepter known to be possessed by only the minute high priests of the Chosen One.; It's a frightening object inlaid with a crystalized mana jewel.; It can cause a great explosion by releasing its mana, and it holds great power to destroy any obstacle.; Even if it's a barrier made with the borrowed power of a god.

6th District[]

Ancient Stone Tablet: Ancient Stone Tablet; An old and weathered Stone Tablet.; There are pictures of a goddess and spiders on it.; …Mother shined her light upon us.; We only had instincts, but intellect began to bloom.; Mother promised the blessing will be eternal as long as the Tree of Life exists…; …Mother didn't expect offerings.; She only wanted to help the small and feeble species.; To make our mother happy we…

Great Priest's Tiara Acquired from Area 2: The Final Trial Area: Great Priest's Tiara; The Tiara of the Spider Swarm's queen Arachne.; The Tiara is the symbol of a queen and the ritual chief.; The tree's ruin took mother's holiness.; We, who could no longer share our consciousness, couldn't communicate like new born children.; We suffered and cried, but didn't leave our mother's side.; Mother embraced us and began singing a lullaby to her children in a sorrowful tone.; The merciful singing lets us forget our pain and fall into a deep sleep.; Mother watched us and began to prepare for a long wait to return to her original form.; Like in ancient times, the tree will grow again.; Until then, we shall fall into an eternal dream and bide our time.

7th District[]

Small Chosen One Statue: Small Chosen One Statue; A statue of the Chosen One found in a Chosen One Believer's corpse.; The following passage is densely written in small letters.; The blizzard of doom will blow, and the Frost Queen will emerge from the snow covered Mt. Shivering leading death with her.; The Frost Queen's steps will freeze the earths, and within the heavy blizzard monsters will follow. Only death will remain instead of life.; When the world meets its doom amidst blizzard and frost, a savior will arrive to those who didn't lose faith and reclaim the light.; Because of the witch that meddles in us following the prophecy multiple times, I witnessed many of our brothers and sisters wither into red ice.; Forgive me for hesitating in fear in front of a great trial that I couldn't handle.; I couldn't find the trace of the witch despite taking steps forward with my rekindled faith.; Your guidance and protective light must have made that cruel witch leave far far away, Archpriestess.; Thank you!

Family Portrait: Family Portrait; A drawing of an Innuit and Snowman found in the far distant corner of Mt. Shivering.; The image of them being together makes it seem as if they're family.; The children of Mt. Shivering were close brothers and sisters.; They are holding each other's hands tightly as if they made an oath of friendship under the great mother and father's protection.

Frozen Flame: Frozen Flame; A piece of ice that swallowed a flame.; The image of it swallowing something it couldn't shows what the great cold that came over Mt. Shivering was like.; Gazing into the contorted flames feels as if the echoes from the past can be heard.; Bear witness to my great power!; Sing the song of vengeance!; March my children!

8th District[]

Mountain Shard: Mountain Shard; A shard fallen from the crags forming the mountain.; It was a scale from an unbelievably giant organism.; From the very distant past, a giant dragon visited Mt. Shivering.; It was a wounded runaway, the battle's loser.; Mt. Shivering caressed its wounds, and the high ice walls became the dragon's refuge and resting place.

Iceberg Ring: Iceberg Ring; A ring shaped object fished out of the ice valley's floor.; This ring sculpted out of thick ice resembles a ring.; The dragon fell in love with two women, the Frost Queen and the Ice Witch.; That love bore fruit and littered the mountains with new life.; Children with cold blue skin like ice resembling the Queen,; Children with fluffy ears and tails resembling the Witch spread across Mt. Shivering.

Frost Tear Shards Acquired from hidden stage: Dragon's Lair: Trace of Grief
Numerous shiny objects have fallen on the floor.; Numerous tiny ice crystals piled up in front of an empty cave.; The concentrated mana held within the crystals makes it faintly glow even in dark places.; As the dragon recovered its strength, the cold from Mt. Shivering spread across the continent.; The dragon placed its children on the front lines and planned its revenge.; The dragon's grudge was heavy and the sisters couldn't persuade it.; The sisters were the dragon's wives, but they were also mothers of their children.; While the dragon slept, the sisters' mana began to bind the dragon.; The dragon awoke too late, and struggled to free the binds, but nothing changed.; Only the dragon's roar filled with betrayal and helplessness filled the mountain.

Ice Amber: Ice Amber; Red Ice made from the Ice Witch's mana.; She made an oath to become a sentry, who will stop anyone approaching the Queen who sacrificed her own soul to become the bind's core.; However, time passed, and the dragon and the binds were forgotten.; The treasure nobody coveted and changed children.; The endless mission, survivor's guilt, and loneliness from being alone.; The witch broke down more and more.

Faded Dragon Orb Acquired from Area 3: The Final Trial Area: Faded Dragon Orb; An orb holding the Frost Elder Dragon's curse.; It now seems like a simple decorative item since there's not a shred of mana left, but it's a haunted object that makes the owner have nightmares.; The dragon that had its vengeance within its sights, was betrayed once again and failed.; The injured dragon no longer wished for its happiness.; No, it prayed for no one to be happy.; The dragon sacrificed its soul and wings for soaring across the skies to leave a dense curse behind.; Cursing the sisters, the children and Mt. Shivering.; The Dragon was sealed off, but the grudge and curse materialized into an orb.; Despair, and drown in sorrow.; For there's no peace for thee.; Your betrayal done for your children will become fetters and choke your children…; The children of Mt. Shivering will hate each other and be loved by no one. Eternal night will fall.

Scripture Bookmark: Scripture Bookmark; A thin wooden piece with a tassel accessory. A verse from The Chosen One scripture is engraved on the exterior.; The prophet said, everything is pointless, worthless, futile, fruitless, and in vain.; Behold. What has passed will return and what has occurred will repeat.; The eye will not be sated from seeing nor the ear be filled from hearing. What has occurred will not be remembered, so what arises will not be passed on.; For the loop has now been broken, so fill a new vessel with power and grace and endow it to this land.

District Chief's Diary: District Chief's Diary; A fancy hardcover diary. It has been unlocked and one can read the contents.; XXXX-XX-03; The Archpriestess called the priests and delivered the shocking plan.; Are we deserving of such blessings…; Hopefully they will come sooner than later.; XXXX-XX-06; Oh, how I overflow with energy! Veil of Servitude: Veil of Servitude; A piece of fabric made of fancy silk. It is used to drape over one's face. Covering one's face symbolizes one's dissociation with the world and attachment to the heavens.; When the world was peaceful, a lone woman believed that the world's end was approaching. This belief was not backed by evidence, but the woman was sure to a point of peculiarity, and was steadfast in her convictions despite people's denunciations.; Therefore, she was chosen.; The prophecy came to the woman and showed her an illusion of the future. The woman, filled with joy, bolted out of her house barefoot.; And she did not return.; To the woman, who received an assertive answer, the past was nothing more than a worthless shell.

Chosen One Notebook Acquired from hidden stage: Mortuary: A necessity for Chosen One candidates
You can sense a dangerous journey from it.; The memento of a person who attempted to become the Chosen One but failed. The records of the journey stopped here.; However. you did not fail.; The great one from high above used you as intended.; You were just unaware of it.; The great will had a grander and more surprising plans.; So don't be sad and sing with us.; About the grace of being used, and the joy of the upcoming salvation.

10th District[]

Dagger of Devotion: Dagger of Devotion; A dagger that all The Chosen One members, from the highest priests to the lowest believers, possess. It is overly showy and looks impractical, but the blade has been sharpened enough to pierce the heart. A book of scripture and a dagger is given to new entrants, who carry the items from their beginnings to their ends.; You are the branches of a tree rooted in the plains.; An extended night will cover the land in a constant darkness.; If the branches don't fall off, they will wither with the tree.; If they do, they will become firewood to light up the darkness.

Imperfect Crystal: Imperfect Crystal; An item discovered from the body of a high ranking The Chosen One priest. It emits a bizarre light.; Converting the soul into a physical object is a technology given from a high place by the great will.; The fundamentals are within an area that far surpasses the cognition of mortals, and trying to mimic it is already difficult.; This is a defective result made from the numerous attempts.; Thus, it's like firewood that won't catch fire.

Paimon's Fragment I Acquired from Area 4: The Final Trial Area: Paimon's Fragment I; A needle extracted from Saintess Clara's body. A tremendous amount of mana emanates from the sharp point. The item is a lost body part of a Demon God, and it destroys anything it comes into contact with. If this was placed in one's body it will destroy every single cell one by one and turn it into mush.; The archpriestess visited the woman every night.; She abused and violated her frail body.; The holy power healed her wounds, but the repeated breakdown and regeneration of her body resulted in prolonging the woman's pain. Goddess and the Hero. She desperately called out for the ones who were her brightest light to rescue her, but her voice didn't reach anywhere. The prayers she repeated while weeping turned into cursing fate.; The woman couldn't withstand the pain any further and let herself go.; Within the dirty room stained with blood and tears, the Saintess of The Chosen One raised her head amidst despair and resignation.

Censer of Guidance: Censer of Guidance; A ceremonial censer from The Chosen One. The herb inside is an indigenous species from the Desert of Madness. Inhaling the smoke from burning the herb induces a trance state accompanied with mental boost and delight. This item is classified as a drug because of its mind-altering effects. Sale and cultivation of this item is forbidden.; The lingering scent of the burnt logs crosses over the darkness and reaches the gateway.; This is the light of guidance from the lighthouse, the anchor's chain from the docking ship.; The great star will finally descend into the plains.
